The symbol of the town is the Cathedral of St. James built in the 16th century. The construction of the cathedral spanned over a hundred years. The Cathedral of St. James is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. What’s special about this cathedral is the way in which it was constructed. It was built entirely from stone blocks without the use of any binding materials.

Vodice and Primošten are located near Šibenik. They are one of the most popular party destinations on the Croatian coast, very popular among young people, but also destinations which can satisfy the needs of all guests. The vibrant night life attracts more and more tourists every year. The most famous night clubs in Vodice are Hacienda, Makina and Exit, and the most popular beach bar is Hookah. Aurora, one of the best clubs on the Adriatic, is located in Primošten.

Plitvice Lakes consist of 16 lakes: the twelve Upper Lakes from which waterfalls flow into the four Lower Lakes. The Large Waterfall, which is 78 meters high, is the highest waterfall of Plitvice Lakes, a scene that inspires both awe and admiration at the same time.

Apart from the lakes and waterfalls, Plitvice Lakes is rich in flora and fauna. The lakes are full of fish, while lynxes, wolves and brown bears freely roam the forests.

Northern Velebit has been protected as a national park due to diverse karst phenomena and its animal and plant life. The Velebit degenia and the Croatian sibiraea are endemic plants which you can find only on Velebit. The National Park has numerous hiking trails so that you can infinitely enjoy hiking and exploring Velebit.

Velebit has yet another spectacular feature – Lukina Jama (a cave). Lukina Jama is the deepest cave in Croatia and the 14th deepest in the world, with a depth of 1,431 m.

Kornati is a national park, and therefore it should be mentioned that there are certain rules which should be adhered to. It is forbidden to interfere with the flora or fauna of the park, meaning that it is forbidden to pick plants or catch animals. In any case, observing this untouched nature is a greater pleasure.

Special ornithological reserve

The dominant feature of the park is a special ornithological reserve, which is an almost untouched natural habitat of waterbirds, and a rare swamp system of immense biodiversity and outstanding scientific and ecological value. So far, 235 species of birds have been spotted in the park. According to the park estimates, between 20,000 and 200,000 birds can be found in the park every day during autumn migration.

The park is also abundant in fish and it has developed sport fishing tourism. The price of a daily fishing ticket is HRK 70, but should you decide to engage in sports fishing, you ought to first read the rules of fishing within the Park.

There are over 50 km of cycling trails around Lake Vrana, which differ in difficulty as well as the scenery through which they pass. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or a beginner, you will find a trail suited for you. If you do not have a bicycle, you can rent one in the Park.

Stony and sand beaches, clean and clear sea, various options of accommodation, an authentic gastronomic experience are only some of the reasons to visit and stay on this island. People who like Mediterranean scenery can enjoy unforgettable panoramas, especially the one from the Venetian fortress of St. Michael (13th century).

The island of Ugljan is rich in cultural heritage. On the island you can visit an early Christian basilica built in the 5th century, the monastery of St. Jerome from the 15th century and the villa Rustica built in the 1st century.

The cuisine on Ugljan does not lag behind the best Croatian restaurants, therefore you can try all the Dalmatian specialities on Ugljan: prosciutto, olive oil, fresh fish, crab and shellfish.
