Nature Park Lake Vrana is the largest natural lake in Croatia. The lake is actually a karst valley filled with water and a rare example of cryptodepression.
Special ornithological reserve
The dominant feature of the park is a special ornithological reserve, which is an almost untouched natural habitat of waterbirds, and a rare swamp system of immense biodiversity and outstanding scientific and ecological value. So far, 235 species of birds have been spotted in the park. According to the park estimates, between 20,000 and 200,000 birds can be found in the park every day during autumn migration.
The park is also abundant in fish and it has developed sport fishing tourism. The price of a daily fishing ticket is HRK 70, but should you decide to engage in sports fishing, you ought to first read the rules of fishing within the Park.
There are over 50 km of cycling trails around Lake Vrana, which differ in difficulty as well as the scenery through which they pass. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or a beginner, you will find a trail suited for you. If you do not have a bicycle, you can rent one in the Park.
